Following the graveside service, all are welcome to return to the church for a potluck gathering to share food, memories, and fellowship in celebration of Otis’s life.

Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate Otis’s life together.

Obituary

In loving memory of a devoted husband, father, and friend.

Otis Milton Marsh Jr., 84, passed away peacefully on , surrounded by family. He was born on , in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Audrey Elaine Olson and Otis Milton Marsh Sr.. He grew up with his younger brother, John Edward. At the age of four, Otis lost his father, who died in service to his country in Hawaii during World War II.

In 1960, Otis met the love of his life, Diane Faye Carlson. They were married on , and shared more than 63 years together. They raised eight children: Kirt Otis, Sammy Alan, Chris Dale, Tommy John, Kim Eve, Joy Lynn, Jack Carlson, and Andy Einar.

Otis attended the University of Minnesota before transferring to Bemidji State University, where he graduated with a degree in Engineering and Science. He began his career with the United States Forest Service around 1964, a vocation that became a lifelong calling. In 1979, he and his family moved to Petersburg, Alaska, where he served his final post with the Forest Service.

A man of great energy and curiosity, Otis loved to work, fish, hunt, and trap, always keeping his hands and mind busy. Among his favorite pursuits was building and flying his ultralight airplane—a project that combined his love of engineering and adventure.

Otis and Diane joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1971, where he remained a devoted and faithful member throughout his life. His steadfast service to God, his family, and his community was a defining hallmark of his character.

Otis will be remembered for his strength, integrity, humor, and love of life. His legacy lives on in his wife Diane, their eight children, and the many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who cherish his example and memory.
